Peppermint – Peppermint is one of the best essential oils for all types of digestive upsets and can used for abdominal massage in a clockwise direction.  Peppermint is refreshing, stimulating and restorative.  Therapeutic properties – Analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, cephalic, decongestant, digestive, expectorant, febrifuge, nervine, stimulant, stomachic.

Lavender – Lavender is by far the most popular of the essential oils to balance and normalize the body’s functions and emotions.  Overall, Lavender is soothing, calming and relaxing. Therapeutic properties – Analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic, antiviral, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, emmenagogue, hypotensive, nervine, sedative, tonic.

Rosemary – Rosemary is the strongest essential oil for stimulating and clearing the mind.  Known as “Rosemary for remembrance”, this oil is reviving, refreshing and strengthening. Therapeutic properties – Analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, digestive, diuretic, hepatic, hypertensor, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic.

Tea Tree – Tea Tree oil is the most “medicinal” of the essential oils, with antimicrobial activity that fights against the three infectious organisms, bacteria, viruses and fungi.  Overall Tea Tree is penetrating, medicinal and stimulating.  Therapeutic properties – Antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericide, cicatrizant, expectorant, fungicide, immune-stimulant, stimulant.

Eucalyptus – Eucalyptus, used as a decongestant in steam inhalations to relieve colds, flu and other respiratory ailments, is probably the most familiar essential oil.  An excellent insect repellent, Eucalyptus is also an excellent treatment for treating insect bites and stings.  Therapeutic properties – Analgesic, antibacterial, antineuralgic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, astringent, decongestant, deodorant, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge.

Lemon Eucalyptus – Lemon Eucalyptus is excellent for colds, sore throats and flu.  When used as a steam inhalant, helps clear sinuses and relieve headaches.  Therapeutic properties – Analgesic, antiviral, bactericidal, deodorant, expectorant, insecticide.

Lemon – Because of its bactericidal properties, Lemon is an effective wash for cuts and grazes.  Detoxifying the lymphatic system during massage, Lemon is a tonic for the circulatory system, cleanses the blood and is helpful for varicose veins.  Therapeutic properties – Antimicrobial, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, bactericide, carminative, diuretic, depurative, febrifuge, hemostatic, tonic.

Orange – Orange is excellent in massage and baths for anxiety, stress and insomnia.  Cheerful and uplifting, Orange helps you find laughter and joy and reducing self doubt. Therapeutic properties – Antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, sedative, stomachic, tonic.

Emu - Emu oil is rendered from the fat of the Emu (flightless bird resembling an ostrich) and has been used historically in Australia for fevers, coughs, minor pain, arthritic joints, bruises, cuts and sores. Emu oil reduces irritation and inflammation of the skin and appears to promote faster healing with less pain and scarring. Therapeutic properties – Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial.
